Laboratory Testing

RSV Engineering Group Ltd operates a fully-fledged laboratory (i.e. RSV Materials Laboratory) on Plot 1038, UCB Zone, Bukoto 1 Parish in Kampala City. The Laboratory provides geotechnical investigations, materials testing of soils, aggregates, water, & concrete, structural integrity services, construction quality control, geophysical surveys, and geotechnical design.

We analyze soil samples from your onshore and offshore projects in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan in our laboratory. Some of the tests we perform are listed below;

• Aggregate Tests (Alkaline Aggregate Reaction, Aggregate Impact Value, Aggregate Crushing Value, Ten Percent Fines Value, Sodium Sulphate Soundness, Flakiness & Elongation Index Test, Water Absorption & Specific Gravity, Los Angeles Abrasion, Bitumen Affinity and Polished Stone Value)

• Concrete Mix Design

• Unconfined Compressive Strength, Young’s Modulus, Poisson's ratio, Point Load, Petrographic Analysis and Bulk Density on rock samples

• Compaction & CBR Tests

• Mechanical and Chemical Stabilization of soils.

• Classification

• Mechanical grain size and hydrometer analysis

• Natural Moisture Content

• Atterberg Limits

• Unconfined compression tests

• Triaxial Tests (Unconsolidated Undrained, Consolidated Undrained and Consolidated Drained Tests)

• Permeability tests (Falling Head and Constant Head)

• Direct shear tests

• Consolidation tests

• Chemical Tests on Soils and Water

• Concrete Tests

• Collapsibility Tests

• Free Swell Tests

The above tests are executed in full compliance with established local and international standards that include:

• American Association for State Highways and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)

• British Standard Institution (BSI)

• European Standard (EN)

• American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)

• Uganda Ministry of Works and Transport Specifications.
